See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

Its been another 5 days since I updated this blog.  How time flies when you are busy.  I have started exercising again and it feels good although I must say that I see no difference yet.  Guess its early days.

I have been scrapping but the layouts I am unable to share yet.  They are all for a big gigantic surprise for the Scrap-It-Lah blog and they will all be revealed on the 1st April.  This is no joke so do come by here or the Scrap-it-Lah to check out our surprise for you.

I was just fiddling around yesterday and I decided to make this simple layout whilst watching "What Happened to the Morgans?" I have decided to go minimalistic and taking a cue from Sasha,  this layout is basic and yet I hope effective.  Here it is:

I am now off for some physio esp after my car crash. Have a great weekend everyone.

Materials used:
Scarlet Lime March kit,  Making Memories Fabric Tags and Felt Alphas,  EK Success Sticker Alphas,  Martha Stewart loop punch,  Bazzill Cs, Pearl blings and 3d pop up dots.

Some ramblings and Sketchabilities No 11- Such a poser

I have always wondered on how people would react to this question:  What is scrapbooking to you and how seriously do you take scrapbooking?  Over the years that I have scrapped,  I have seen a lot of different scrappers.  Some very competitive,  some taking it very easy,  others vying for DT positions whilst some are actually trying hard to outdo each other.  How would you take scrapbooking?  If you have the time,  please do leave me a small comment as I am really curious.

My answer to that question would be:

Scrapbooking is my hobby.  One that I do when I have the time.  If I am busy - I rarely scrap.  However,  when I do scrap,  I find pleasure at most times and when the MOJO is not there,  I feel frustration.  Sometimes when I don't scrap for a long time,  I find much relief when I actually sit down and put my thoughts on the layout.

When I am not happy with a layout - I bemoan about it cos I know I didn't put much thought into it.  Style-wise,  I have yet to derive a style that can be associated with me.  I just scrap whatever I like and whichever style that appeals to me.  Admittedly,  I love sketches when I am busy and mojoless.  I also love different styles by the greats and when I do copy their styles,  I make sure I let them know or at least blog about it.

Of late,  I am looking over to my Singaporean counterparts for inspiration,  mainly Aida,  Leena and Sasha.  All have very unique styles but I love their styles which comes back to the same problem that I do not have a style that is uniquely mine.  Sigh...  My only wish is that I can find it one day.

I don't think I have enough talent to be a DT of a big manufacturer nor a famous site and I am quite happy doing my own scrapbooking.  My pages are never perfect - you can always find a flaw in them but I guess thats my signature if I have any - I am NOT perfect.  Hee hee...

Here is my layout of the day from the Sketchabilities  sketch no 12.

I wanted to play around with my new camera and I made Sean pose for me this time.  All I wanted was a shot of him laughing but we ended with some of these fun shots as he wouldn't stay still.  Some are a little blurred but I love them nevertheless cos they are MY shots.  Hee hee...

Here is me using the latest SSF pps (thanks to Jessy buying and sending them to moi house)  - I love them!  Many thanks again Jessy.

My apologies for the grainy photo - its dark already and I am too lazy to retake the pic.

Photobucket

I have dug up some of my old brads from Momoyo and added them to the layout. Think they lend some ooomp to the layout.

Photobucket

Love this orange birdie - he is not a girly bird and you gotta admit,  Sean looks a lot like the little birdie!

Sketchabilities No 11 - Got cupcakes

Finished this sketch last week and I have been having problems trying to upload to blogspot. Blogger keeps telling me that my upload quota if up. Wonder what this means. I know have to upload the pics up to photobucket before I get the image here. How labourious.. Sigh...

Anyway, I had a great time with this sketch no 11, please go here for the sketch.

Got cupcakes

I have used photos that I took of Clarissa nd her friends eating cupcakes for this sketch and I must say it was hard for me to find any sort of embellishment for the layout. In the end - I used up some very old Basic Grey paper namely, the Romani and Lily Kate collections which I love dearly and hoarded for a very long time. LOL... Guess I should be proud of myself for destashing. Hee hee...

Materials used:

Bazzill Cs, Basic Grey pps (Romani and Lilykate) Thickers foam alphas, Dymo for journalling, Pearl blings from local haberdashery and 3d pop up foam dots.

Scraplift From Liza

This was a layout that I did a long time ago when Scrappin Kids was still active.  I thought I would just post it as a rememberance of SK - those good old days.

I had the pleasure of kicking off the Lift It challenge at the SK Forum.  Essentially - I was to choose a layout from one of the member's gallery and scraplift their layout.  I was looking or a 3 photos layout when I saw that Liza ,  one of the SK's ex- Resident designers and decided to choose her layout to scraplift.

Mirroring Liza is not easy as she loves to add tiny details into her layouts.  In addition,  she loves to use lace trims which I am not very good with.  Nevertheless,  I put in some effort and I hope that I have scraplifted her layout and have done justice to it.

So Liza - your layout in the forum has been lifted!!!  Thanks so much!

Do come and join us in the forum and we look forward to you sharing your beautiful creations with us.  Who knows - your layout may be chosen as the one to be "Lifted!"

Pencil Lines Sketch No 166

Was browsing through Pencil Lines the other and the sketch no 166 caught my eye.  I decided to use if for scrapping some photos which I took at random of the kids playing basketball in the basement.  The light in there was far from good and I must admit that the photos were not of good quality but they captured the fun they had.

I love the "ruffles" here.

I had also added another circle to add in more words.

Materials used:
K n Co pp, chipboard embellishments and stickers.  Thickers foam alphas and 3d pop up foam dots.

Sketchabilities Sketch - She ain't heavy, She is my BFF

I was somewhat surprised that I was not able to open the Sketchabilities blog today.  I am hoping that they will return soon reopening their blog as I love their sketches.  Ever since - I started using their sketches,  I am more conscious of my photo taking.  I used to think of 3 shots and stories with 3 photos in mind.  I would never even dream of scrapping of any more photos than that.  But with Sketchabilities, it has opened more possibilities.

Here is another of their sketch,  I am not sure what number as I can't access the blog.  Its a layout of Clarissa and her friends all on piggy-back in our pool.  They looked so happy then.

Materials used:
Bazzill cs,  Dear Lizzy AC pps and embellishments,  Momoyo Fabric Brads,  Zig pen and of course 3d pop up dots.

Sounds really easy right?  We will announce the winner of the RAK at the end of this month.  Its a real easy way to win some Just Lizzy papers - we just love them!

The March Challenge this month was pure and simple.  We are to scrap a layout on our holidays and I have chosen some photos of Clarissa trapezing in order to do that.  My daughter is quite the daredevil and on a trip to Phuket 2 years ago,  she has decided to have 2 lessons on trapezing and I have to say that she excelled at it.  As you can see from the photos,  she has successfully mastered the knee hang,  a catch from the instructors (not shown here) and a back flip to a successful landing.  I was so proud of her.

Check out the smile when she could do the knee hang sucessfully.

Preparing to go another time.

Successful back-flip before her landing.  Perfect to me!
