Class with Sharon at SV

I haven't been scrapping and a class would be the best way to get back into scrapping. Sharon was here from Singapore and she taught us on various techniques on the canvas and boy the class was great and we all had so much fun. Here are my 2 canvases that I made during that class. Thanks Sharon for such a great time.

10 days later - Iz recovers

This the Iz we know. She is really boisterous and noisy in the morning. The minute she comes home from her morning walk, she will be playing with her ladybird squeaky toy and she will not rest until the toy squeaks a million times. Then she will off to drink up loads of water from her bowl and thus her beard will be all wet. Thats Iz for you. Here you can see that she is recovering and smiling happily for the camera.

Izzie alert - Fever and Liver problems

They say that it never rains, its pours. I do agree with that. We have hardly had time to digest the death in our family, here we have another health crisis with Iz. I have noticed that she had been sluggish and she was sticking to me like glue. When she woke up the next day with a fever, I was naturally shocked. Sent her to the vet and she had 2 shots - one for her fever and another a broad spectrum antibiotic to help her battle what she had.

The Vet took a blood sample from her and we now know that this time - its her liver that is giving her problems. I sincerely hope that with the current meds that she is taking - this will at least be sufficient to keep whatever is attacking her at bay.

I hate her being sick. This is how she looks like when she is sick. All listless and unhappy.

Cooking Soto Ayam ala Nad

I made this 3 weeks back. Its just chicken soup with various spices - namely, cardamon, cinnamon, star anise and cloves. The white chunks that you see are actually "ketupat" or compressed rice - it's a local Malay dish and one which I can never get enough of.

Nad gave me the recipe and I must say that I loved this simple dish very much. In addition, the "begedel" which is the brown nuggets you see in the right hand corner - most delicious when its home made. Its just mashed potatoes mixed with onions, beaten egg and minced beef. This soup complete with the rice and begedel and topped with hopped spring onions and coriander is such a scrumptious meal.

Dusting off the cobwebs and a toot

Gosh its been so long since I blogged. Just was bogged down with home affairs etc and now I should revive this blog and get back to scrapping mode.

This week has been a great week for Malaysian scrappers. Firstly, I would like to congratulate Jessy for being featured in the current issue (Oct) Creating Keepsakes. Here is her beautiful layout. Jessy has also been chosen as one of the latest DTs for Twisted Sketches. Congrats my friend!

The Hardest Goodbye

Have I mentioned that I HATE goodbyes? Any kind of goodbyes? We had to bid a final goodbye to our sis-in-law today. I know she has gone to a better place. I know she is pain-free but alas - that doesn't mean we are happy for her to go there. All I can say is that we will miss you and we hope that you find peace wherever you are.

Layout - { We Finally did it}

You will notice that that the photo is slightly blurred and very blue. This shot was taken in our pool with all the kids underwater. It took them many tries for everyone to be in there at the same time and posing nicely but it was really worth it. Ah... Summer memories. This shot I will hold on dearly. Don't they all look cute together? Holding their breaths and all?

To contrast the "darkness" of the poto, I have used very bright and summery colours here. Love my SC kit as the colour coordination is superb. A simple and happy layout for a bright sunny day in KL. Have a great day you all...

Materials used:
My Scarlet Lime kit from June and July, Blue coredinations cs, Hambly transparency, Making Memories sticker alphas, and 3d pop up foam.

Twisted Sketches No 11

I can literally feel my MOJO literally drying up and its scary. The only thing that keeps me going and makes me happy is when I use my creativity and its scary when I can't scrap - I do find myself a bit lost. I am not trying to be dramatic here but its true - at least to me.

Here is a layout I did about 12 days ago using the Twisted Sketches No 11. The twist of the sketch was to use monochromatic hues for the layout. I love green and I have chosen green for this layout.

The photos were taken by the kids whilst playing with Sean and my camera whilst we were vacationing in Penang. Both of them were so fascinated by the huge mirror in our suite and they just couldn't help themselves but take a lot of pictures of themselves using this mirror. The 2 vainpots - LOL... What is the term they use nowadays which I don't really like - cam-whoring.

I have used the Coredinations papers in differnt shades of green and added texture using the Cuttlebug and sanded them down. Sewed on the side and added more exture with laces, brads and buttons. Typical Michelle - I managed to spill the glitter glue on the layout and I didn't notice it till it dried. Sigh. Major blur blob. Well - the layout did bring me out of my scrapbooking glut - so thank you Twisted Sketches.

Materials used:
Coredinations pp, DMC thread, Making Memories brads, Buttons from Autumn Leaves, Kinderglitz Glue, Pompom trim from my Scarlet Lime Kit, Chipboard Alphas from Thickers, Sticker alphas from Pink Paislee, KindyGlitz, Momoyo brads and 3d pop up foam.

September Lift it At the Scrappin Kids Forum

This month at the Scrappin Kids Forum, its my turn to run the monthly Lift-It thread. This is where the Rd or DTs choose a favourite layout from the forum and scraplift it. To me - its really a cool idea where we can learn from each other and its always cool to see how someone may use the ideas of your layout.

This month I have chosen a layout by Zakaria. Isn't her layout precious? Love the multi photos and all the details that she has put in them. To participate in our forum, please go here.

Scrap-it-Lah September Challenge

Its another new month - where has the time gone by? We are nearing the end of another year and it seems like it was just yesterday that we celebrated the year 2009. At the Scrap-It-Lah scene, a brand new challenge which requires one to use 705 of one's favourite manufacturer items in your layout. Here is my take using everything by Collage Press.

Sean has this fascination with chocolate milk and specifically BabyCino. I guess its my fault as thats the only thing I used to feed them whenever we were in Australia and they were hooked on this stuff. Hee hee. Pictures were taken by the talented Jessy at Dome waaaaayyy back in December 2007.

Dusting off the cobwebs

Gosh is nearly 2 weeks since I last updated this blog. Time to dust off the cobwebs and stop being lazy. It's been a lazy 2 weeks with some medical drama going around. Who else but Sean who had a high temp complete with sore throat. With the H1N1 pandemic, that was enough to get me all stressed up. Finally after 3 days of agony, we took him for a H1N1 test and phew - it was negative.

I have started my scratchy throat again. This time I am trying some chinese pills which I bought from the Chinese Medicinal Hall at the market. Well - anything is worth a try since the last bout brought on so much weight gain with the 3 types of antibiotics and Cataflam. Day 2 of chinese meds - seem to be improving. We will see. Hope that everyone stays healthy and I will definitely start scrapping again after this hiatus and hope to see all of you around.
