New blog in town - Scrap-it-Lah

Jessy and I have finally started our first joint-venture together.  Hee hee - yup - we hope that this is the official 1st challenge blog in Malaysia.  We hope to encourage more "shy" scrappers in Malaysia to join our challenges etc.  For more information - do join us here.

Layout - My Fairy and Elf

Sketch by BHG Page Planner 2009.  Yes - another sketch challenge by Jessy again. Thanks dear.

I know I am repeating this photo again.  I have no choice - I have so many different journals that I want to document when I see this photo - so heck, I am going to scrap this photo again.

So many things happened a week prior to this shoot.  We were still in Malaysia and Sean was in hospital.  The minute he was discharged and I had the green light from his doctor,  we flew off to Australia for him to recuperate.

Thanks to Linda who took all these photos at the Subiaco market.  Both kids had a great time and enjoyed themselves and it showed through the photos.

Materials used:
SSF pp and diecuts,  Creative Imaginations pp,  Maya Road Chipboard swirl and birdies,  Brilliance Inks,  Peral blings,  Prima blings,  Dymo journalling,  pop up dots and Zig journalling pen.

Another BHG Page Planner Sketch

Another sketch that Jessy picked out from the magazine.  I thought I go crazy this time too in accordance to the photos.  Jessy snapped these zany photos of Clarissa a while back and I thought it will be fun to play with them in this layout.

Clarissa is quite zany most of the time.  Example?  I have loads.  She can talk to herself ina silly voice.  She even thinks our dog Izzie is giving her answers to her homework!  She laughs at herself most of the time and agrees that she is going crazy!  LOL...

Materials used:
My New SSF pps (courtesy of Aida - thanks!!!),  Prima pp,  Bazzill cs,  SSF diecut stickers,  Momoyo brads and buttons,  Making Memories sticker alphas,  Basic Grey sticker alphas and lots and lots of pop up dots.

BHG Page Planner Sketch 2009

Jessy was at my place going through my scrapbooking books when we saw this magazine.  She has decided to give me a couple more sketch challenges and this is one of the sketches that she has picked from there.

I have stacks of these photos - Sean in Cowboy clothes as he used to love Toy Story so much.  Finally dug out some of my old old old patterned papers - this is Junkitz from 2004 if I am not mistaken... Sigh... I am such a hoarder...

This layout is quite meaningful to me as we went through a very rough patch with Sean.  He was very sick when he was young,  numerous hospitalisations with conidtions like pneumonia,  bronchiolitis and tonsilitis.  Those were very hard times.  After each hospitalisation,  I would ship him off to Perth to recuperate.  The fresh air seemed to do him good there.

We went to the Subiaco market to take these pictures and had great fun.  Bet you can't tell from here that a week ago - this little boy was hooked to tubes and all.

Materials used:
Junkitz pp,  Red Bazzill cs,  Scenic Board Star and saying chipboards,  BG Raw chipboard shapes,  Thickers Foam alphas,  RAnger Glossy Accents,  Dymo for journalling,  Adirondack Dabbers and Riff Raff chipboard flourish.

Jessy's sketch challenge

Another sketch challenge by Jessy - so I am thinking - maybe its time for us to run sketch challenges at Scrapping Inspirations. I could sponsor the RAK every month. Hmmm - need to talk to Jessy about it. Sorry - I was just thinking out loud and didn't realise that I typed it out. But if you are reading this and you are interested - do leave a comment so that we can judge whether its viable with to start running this in Malaysia.

My Sketch challenge this time by Jessy

My simple interpretation of the sketch. I apologise for the picture quality but its been raining cats and dogs here. No light. Snapped this picture of Clarissa when we were in Perth. She was so happy on the swing and it shows.

My journalling reads:

Its one of life's simple pleasures - sitting on a swing. As you were swinging to and fro - you were laughing and smiling. You seemed so happy. As you grow older and problems arise, I want you to remember all these carefree times. Perhaps when there seems to be no way out, just sit yourself on a swing and swing all your troubles away. It's a simple thing - happiness. Remember this - be happy. February 2009

Materials used:
Sassa Fras Lass pp, Coredinations cs, Prima flowers, Bling and pearls from local shops, Thickers foam alphas, White Zig pen, Distress Inks - brushed corduroy and pop up dots.

Mojoholder Sketch Challenge

Another sketch challenge which Jessy found for me.  Its called the Mojoholder Sketches(click on the name to get to the site).  I have always wanted to scrap the Halloween pics that I have.  Its amazing how every year flies and I still haven't gotten round to scrapping the photos way back to 1998!!!  I know I am appallingly lazy - if there is such a term.

Here it is a picture from Halloween 2007.  We had a simple party at home.  The highlight would be Uncle Keat who very kindly assembled a dismembered body using fruits!  How cool is that?  Thanks Keat for the beautiful platter and kudos to his creativity.  On previous years,  Keat also made scarecrows for us using pumpkins etc.

Materials used:
Cosmo Cricket pps and diecut stickers,  Green coredination cs,  Me and  My Big Idea stickers,  Cuttlebug embossing folder,  Orange corrugated cardboard and pop up dots.

Basic Grey Sketch Challenge - { Jessy-Driven }

It's amazing how good friends and inspirations from sketches can do to your MOJO.  Was chatting with Jessy yesterday and lamenting that my MOJO is all dried up.  Lo and behold - she sent me some challenges over the internet and finally - I have broken my dry spell for the past week.  Thanks Jessy. It feels good to be scrapping again - even simple layouts will suffice and enough to make me happy.

This layout is from the Basic Grey Challenge (click on the words to get to the site),  I think it was meant for more for a card but I liked it so much that I have used the sketch for my layout.  Sean as usual struggling with his times tables and we made a times tables guide for him using some manila card and some of my stamps back in November 2007.  Is he still struggling with the times tables - yes but we will persevere...

Materials used:
BG pp - from the Colour Me Silly collection (Yes very very old collection - you know me - the hoarder),  Red Coredinations cs,  Bazzill black scalloped cs, Thickers chipboard alphas,  German scraps cut and used as corners (from Scraptivate Australia),  Making Memories Red Ribbon,  Momoyo buttons,  black ink from my MM distressing kit and pop up dots.

How I love our walks...

We haven't done walked Izzie for quite some time and we brought her out this evening.  I forgot how fun it was and how many mozzies there are here - yikes.  My skin is itching as I type.  Well - the plus side is that the kids and Iz enjoyed their walk together and now she is all splayed out in my bedroom totally enjoying the aircon and panting in the after math of the walk.

SK Forum - CA Jessy's challenge

Made this layout for Jessy's challenge.  I had this very old photo of Sean's cheek being bitten by a mozzie (mosquito) from 2004.  Jessy's challenge was to use this quote:

1)  Always kiss your children good night even when they are asleep by H Jackson Brown Junior.

My journalling was simple - I went to kiss you goodnite but found a mozzie doing it instead. What a laugh!

I have to say that I am not happy with the layout yet.  I would want to add more embellishments as it is too plain.  Will do so later when I am feeling more inspired.

Materials used:
Coredinations cs,  Basic Grey pp,  Cuttlebug with embossing folder,  eyelets,  suede lace,  Jenny Bowlin tag,  clay beads from Australia,  thickers foam alphas,  Making Memories stickers alphas, pearls from local shops and pop up dots.

SK MArch Lift It

This March - Wendy chose LG's layout to be scraplifted.  I love LG's work - she has a great sense of style and this is what I came up with.

Materials used:
Bazzill white cs,  Jo Sonya Acrylic paint and bottle caps, Scenie Route pp,  Heidi Swapp and Prima flowers,  Kaiser pearls,    America Crafts ribbon,  Thickers foam alphas,  Jenny Bowlin journalling tag and pop up dots.

SK March Challenge - Sketch 2

This is the sketch for SK's March Challenge.  Hope you will join us - RAKs to be won for the winning entry which wil be chosen at the end of each month.

My interpretation is a slighly UTEE'd one.  I have decided to scrap this great photo by Jessy. My kids are constantly bickering and at loggerheads.  Both should learn how to be nice to each other especially when they have friends over.  They may not want to share their friends at playdates and I keep constantly have to remind them to be nice to each other.

Materials used:
Bella Cardstock,  Platinum UTEE,  Clear embossing ink,  Stamps from Stampington and Stamp-it,  Heidi Swapp flower,  Tulle,  Jenny Bowlin journalling tag,  Prima pp,  Thickers alphas,  Brown coredinations cs,  Autumn Leaves buttons,  Ribbon from Making Memories and pop up dots.

Busy this weekend

I have been quite busy this weekend.  I have gone overload with my love of the altered owls ands I made around 80 of them!  Hee hee - that brought my scrapbooking target much lower now to 52 and with the 2 layouts that I have just finished - voila!  I am at 50 layouts.  Finally - I have reached the halfway point and the end seems not in sight yet.  Sigh... Nvm - I will persist and will work harder.

I am off soon to help my friend in a charity bazaar.  No rest for the wicked!  Have a great sunday everyone!

Layout - Buzz Mania

Sean used to be obsessed with Buzz Lightyear.  He would watch Toy Story  over and over again. I remember when we were at Disneyland,  I used to have to queue for at least an hour and 45 mins for him to play with the Astro Blasters - which is a Buzz Lightyear game. I remember when he used to wear this very Buzz Lightyear costume to bed and we had to get a couple of these costumes for him. He loved going everywhere in his Buzz costume including Disneyland!

This is another challenge by Yvette at the SK forum - to scrap about their favourite character.  I scrapped this simply and loved the effect of it all.  Do join us for our monthly DT challenges at the end of each month in the SK forum.

Materials used:
Disney pp,  Bazzill cs,  Shrink plastic and colour pencils for Buzz Image,  Kaiser black pearls,  Ribbon from Scrappingglitz,  DMC thread,  Thickers cb alphas,  Dymo white journalling and pop up dots.

Layout - Only a watch

Its the monthly DT challenge at the Sk forum.  Do head over to check out the challenges.  you still have time to join in the challenges if you wish.

This challenge is from DT Issa. The challenge is to use our old stash,  something with red and 3 photos to scrap about Valentines.  I am no big fan of Valentines as normally I do not get anything.  This year,  I received this watch.  Hence,  the only thing I can scrap is about the watch.

Materials used:
Bo Bunny pp,  We R Memory Makers pp,  Coredinations cs,  Chatterbox paper flower and chipboard corners, Thickers foam alphas,  Versamagic chalk ink,  Momoyo red brad and pop up dots.
