Lift It at the SK forum

Apologies - been trying to upload sneak peeks since 6pm.  Its already 8.56pm.  I am afraid I will call it a night and upload when I get back from vacation.

This is another new exciting activity that SK has cooked up to make the forum more interesting.  Every month,  our designers at SK will choose a member's layout to scraplift.  We think its fun and it will be a pleasant surprise to see your layout form a different person's point of view.  Hope you can join us at the SK forum.

Happy Chinese New Year

It's that time of year again. My,  how time flies.  Chinese New Year is upon us again.  I will be away for a short week and to all my chinese friends:

Wakeboarding Album {Clarissa}

Had to be fair - made another wakeboarding album for Clarissa.  Woke up at 2.30am today - Can't sleep and scrapped this in my state of blurness.  Of course it was a big mistake cos I see so many errors and it was shoddy work but nvm - thot i just blog it.

Materials used:
Crate pp and diecuts,  Crate paper alpha stickers,  Maya Road chipboard clip and swirl,  3d lacquer,  thin chipboard,  Adirondack dabbers,  3d pop up foam and Momoyo Brads and Ribbons.

Layout - CNY wishes {Sean}

Made this slap and dash layout for the online crop at the Brunei Scrappers Forum.  Thanks Jazz for hosting the fun online crop.  Only managed to make one layout as I was baking that night.

This layout was done pertaining to answering the following questions:

1) Make a red layout
2) Think Chinese New Year (CNY)

Hence - I have selected the following to reflect such a mood:

1) Red pp
2) Red fibers
3) CNY costume
4)  Other chinese paraphenilia like frog buttons, plastic jade looking embellishment etc...

I have also recycled a gold card to mat the photo as I am not to fussed about it being non acid free and all.

Photo credits - Jessy

Quote of the Day

I haven't had time to do any scrapping at all.  Been busy preparing stuff for Chinese New Year.  It's been a while since I baked so much and I must say that it has exhausted me.  In addition - I have decided to do a simple altering on the cookie containers ala Aida style.  Will upload a pic of them when I get the time to take the pics.

Meanwhile - this is a very old quote nevertheless a very important one:

When one door closes another opens. But often we look so long so regretfully upon the closed door that we fail to see the one that has opened for us.

Layout - Little Miss {Clarissa}

Ever since Clarissa turned double digits - its been a downhill task trying to speak to her.  Her mood swings,  her perceptions on what is important etc - is totally different from me.  Sigh.  We were shopping in London when she okayed this dress.  When it came to the time to wear it,  there were tears.  She claimed that the dress was too "frou-frou" and too "poofy".  Sigh...

I did what I could to salvage the situation - BRIBE her!!! I am not going to buy another dress for god- knows how much hence I knew that she needed another school bag - hence off to Roxy I went to get her a "COOL" school bag.  Hee hee - I do know my daughter well - she was so desperate to use the bag that she wore the dress which she claims that her friends will LAUGH at her if she wore it.  Faint - pubescent teenagers... Sigh...

I knew this day would come - her not listening to me but its still a shock when it hit me.  She is definitely no longer my "Little Miss",  more like Miss Nightmare now!

Quote of the day

Love this quote as it is true:

Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.

Altered album - Sean {Water Ski}

Thanks to the 100 layout commitment - I am finally digging out some old photos which I have wanted to scrap but forgotten to.  I used to take the kids wake boarding *note the mistake - not water skiing* but never mind - during the long school holidays in December 2005 till the 21st January 2006.  We stopped as it was eating into their schedule and daddy - very cleverly said this: "Are you sure there are no crocodiles in the Mines?"  That was enough to freak the two of them.  To their credit - the water is quite murky and yucky.

Another simple album that I created today....

Cover of the album

Journalling - only here...

Sean and his instructor - very apprehensive at first....

Gathering strength...

Happily hanging on...

Finally confident enough - a smile.

Back of the album.

Materials used:
Crate Papers,  Thin chipboard,  Grungeboard alphas,  Velvet Sayings from Making Memories, Fabric sayings from Making Memories,  Prima crystals,  Brown Brilliance Ink,  K n Co Chipboard saying,  MR chipboard clip,  googly eyes,  3-d lacquer,  fabric from Japan,  Zig journalling pen and rings.

Layout - Dream Big - Clarissa

I was looking at my stash when I realised that I haven't touch this new set of Amy Butler papers.  A simple cut and paste layout would suffice to show the beauty of these papers.

Materials used:
K n Co Amy Butler pps, Amy Butler Fabric Tags,  Jenny Bowling stickers - journalling and words,  Making Memories glitter butterflies,  Making Memories sheer ribbon,  Pom pom trim from Laines,  Vintage green trim from haberdashery in Hong Kong.

100 Layouts anyone?

As I browsed through the Sk forum,  I chanced upon Wati's scrapbooking resolutions for the year. She has committed to scrap a staggering 100 layouts this year.  Feeling the heat,  I have decided to join her in this quest.

Being the lazy me - I toned it down to a more manageable set of resolutions for myself for e.g:

1)  One mini album = 5 layouts
2) A simple altered item = 3 layouts
3) A large altered item = 5 layouts.

Hee hee - we will see how many layouts I can actually scrap in a year.  I am very daunted by this task but its a sort of sb resolution - let's see how committed I can be.  Hee hee... Wish me luck folks!

P.S.  I have scrapped a simple layout just now - waiting for daylight to snap the pictures.  I figured cut and paste layouts also considered 1 layout right?  *evil laugh*

Braids Galore Album - Clarissa

A simple album to remember Clarissa's dreadlocks - LOL...  We were at the Marriot Phuket when we saw that most of the little girls had their hair braided.  Clarissa - who is a little vain by the way wanted to braid her hair.  Hence,  we had it done.  Needless to say - it was quite a tedious affair but the smile on her face after that says it all - she loved it.

It took her a week to remove the dreadlocks and when she did - she looked like she had a mane...

Materials used:
Plain chipboard (6x6) ,  Adirondack dabbers,  keychains,  Collage Press pp,  Maya Road Velvet Floweres,  Prima flowers,  7 Gypsies chipboard,  Chatterbox 3d and velvet stickers (Thanks Jessy),  Pearl blings,  Prima Blings,  MM alphas and Thicker Alphas.

Bubbles

This set of photos were taken by Jessy in December 2007 at the KLCC park.  One of my Xmas gifts this year is the Spellbinder Nestabilities.  Thank you my friend.  Here I have used it for the various photos.  Its a messy layout - but I have had the scrapper's block for some time.  It will just have to do.

Materials used:
Collage Press pp,  Autumn Leaves buttons,  Sticker Alphas - Collage Press,  Foam Thicker Alphas,  Die cuts from Collage Press and velvet ribbon from local haberdashery.

Quote of the Day

I was sifting through my scrapbooking stash and this was a quote from the DCWV black and white sticker quote:

Many children HAVE GONE FURTHER
than they thought they could
because a parent KNEW they could.

What important words to live by... I will continue to encourage my children and we will see what will be,  will be. Que sera sera...

Fists of a Dragon

SK's first sketch for the year...

This is my first Sk layout using a sketch provided by them.  Why Fists of a Dragon?  Sean was born in the year of a dragon.  Thought I would reflect this - Sean is an avid fan of martial arts.

I followed the sketch exactly - and just used some chinese stamps to create some background and uteed it with gold UTEE.  I loved the effect.

Materials used:
Red and Black cs,  Jenny Bowlin bracket pp, Hamble transparency,  gold thread and coin,  stamps,  Thickers cb alphas and Prima felt alphas.
