Happiness is when one makes something yummy and beautiful

I scrapped this layout using more of the Lomo pictures from my Iphone.  Sigh... Digging into my old stash - some papers and embellishments from Scarlet Lime, I am trying desperately to decrease my stash but there seems no end in sight.  Sigh...  I am already scraping everyday and I must admit at this point in time - I do not think that I should buy any more stash.  How sad but let's see how long I can hold out.

Loved these photos of Clarissa kneading and shaping the bread.  She did a very good job making the knotted,  piggy and plaited bread.

Happiness is when One Tastes the Fruits of His Labour

I love these photos - I have used the Lomo Apps which Clarissa has downloaded for me on my Iphone to capture these photos.  A friend of mine offered to teach the kids how to make bread from scratch and we had such a great time that day learning how to braid,  knot and knead bread - particularly not in that order.  LOL..

There is really nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread in the kitchen.  It is so therapeutic and fun at the same time.

Yo yo - Am I cool or what?

Since Sean has had his contacts successfully,  he wanted this pair of sunglasses from the opthomologist.  I must admit that he looks pretty good in them.  He was mucking around with them one night and Clarissa taught him to pose whilst I took these photos of him.  The following photos are hilarious but so very scrappable.

Riley and Me

This is another simple layout of Clarissa and another of her pal - Riley.  At present,  poor Riley has just had her appendix removed.  Get well soon Riley.  

I have decided to play with new bright and colourful combinations and see if they work.  I do love the colours at play here.

The Sasha Challenge

I was wondering if I should scrap  2 weeks ago when I found Sasha online on facebook.  We started chatting and she gave me a simple challenge to stir up my mojo.  Here are her challenge criteria:

1)  Must use Kraft Cardstock

2)  Border Punches

3)  Mists

4)  Staples

So - here is my very simple take on the challenge Sasha.  Thanks for the motivation and push.  I sometimes need it esp when I am lazy to dig through the stash to scrap.

Its another layout using my old Scenic Route papers.  Its amazing how many sheets of Scenic Route pp I have hoarded throughout the years.  In addition,  they tend to be the same pps - gosh - I used to buy 6 of the same pps back then.  I now wonder what I am going to do with all of them?

Liam is another of Sean's good pals.  Both are footballers and enjoy each other's company.  Took a photo of them swimming together and they both look very comfortable in the photo.

Scrap-it-lah August 2010 Challenge - I now know

I have decided to run this challenge after seeing this layout title in her blog.  Naturally I asked her permission to use the title and hence this is the present challenge on the Scrap-it-Lah blog.  I have always loved to read the different forms of journalling from different scrappers on their layouts.   I really couldn't wait to read what my fellow DTs at Scrap-It-Lah has written with theirs.  To view their layouts,  please go here.

For me,  what I now know is that Clarissa will be turning 13 in a couple of months.  I need to let go and let her explore and make mistakes.  However,  this is easier said than done,  most Asian parents love to "cushion" their kids from making mistakes but I have also realised that she will learn the best from making mistakes.  Hence,  I will let her experiment and just be there when she falls.  I guess that is the best I can do as her mom.

Weekend in Bangkok

This was where we were last weekend.  Clarissa and I went there with 2 friends of mine and we had a blast eating,  eating and more eating in Bangkok.  I must say that I don't remember eating so much on one trip.  We had a jolly great time with friends of our friends.  

Decided to take a picture of this.  The tuk tuk is so cute.

I was quite sad that one of my favourite departmental store Central was burnt down during the rioting in Thailand.  

He was sleeping underneath the overhead bridge at the Siam Discovery Centre.

My hope for Thailand - peace.

Some food vendors.

The hustle and bustle of BKK was considerably less last weekend.  We arrived only to find out it was a long weekend for BKK - which translated great for us as there was considerably less traffic and less people.  Even though there were lots of advertisements promoting the Thai Mega Sale,  the sales were not very attractive at mostly 5% discount.

Food wise - was like a foodie paradise.  We tried Nara and the Tea Room at the Erawan Hyatt - both had the most yummylicious food.  Another mention would be this restaurant that my friends' friend took us which served royal porridge.  The porridge is traditionally served in the summer and it was mainly rice soaked in cold scented jasmine water.  It was very refreshing in the BKK heat and the dishes that came with them were heavenly.

Another discovery would be the Tading Pling (Hope I got the name right)  at Siam Paragon - the food was excellent - deserves 101% in the gastro meter.  There was also the dessert which we tried which was thick bread with maple syrup and ice cream - that was heavenly.  I should also not forget about the K Village - will def drop by there the next time I am in Bkk.  All in all - it was a great trip.

I was particularly shocked to learn that barely hours after we left for the airport,  there was a bomb explosion where we were and one person died and another 10 were hurt in that explosion.  Our condolences to the one who has lost his/her life and to Thailand - we only hope for peace for you.
