Swim and Dive

Here is a simple layout that I did the other day.  Was playing with some paint and a straw like how Aida showed us when she came over in December.  Thought that I have fun as the photo was of Sean and his best pal underwater.  Those kids really love the underwater camera.

Love how the blown paint looks like splashes of water.

Some of the stickers and chipboard which I have hoarded over the years - finally making out onto my layouts.

Materials used:
Bazzill cs,  K n Co Carolyn Gavin pp,  Bazzill cs strips,  Maya Road Chipboard,  Scenic Route Sticker Sayings and chipboard,  Making Memories sticker alphas,  Jo Sonja blue Acrylic Paint,  Brilliance Inks,  Prima Blings,  Metal saying from Gold Coast and 3d pop up foam.

Chap Goh Mei (Last Day of the Chinese New Year)

It has been a very hectic 2 weeks and its the last day if the Chinese New Year.  We were at another friend's open house and the kids had great fun just watching the Lion Dance and attending their childhood friends' birthday party - quite an unusual combination if you ask me.

The Current Malaysian Champion Lion Dance Troup giving their all on the stilts.

Sean as usual being a pest - putting a mandarin orange on top of C's head.

Giving ang pow (red packet comtaining money) to the lion for luck.

Receiving a mandarin orange back from the lion for good luck too.

After all the travelling and fanfare of the Chinese New Year, w e decided to stay home and have a simple dinner tonight.  A nice quiet change to the late open houses that we have been attending for the past few nights.

Sketchabilities Sketch No 8 - You know how I roll

I was cleaning out my Iphoto today and I chanced upon these photos of Clarissa taken with her friends at school.  The cheeky girl sometimes hijacks my Lumix and brings it to school and takes photos of herself and her friends - which is not a problem if she doesn't lose the camera.

Feeling very hot and lazy - I chose another Sketchabilities sketch to scrap the photos.  Here it is:

Materials used:
Bazzill cs,  SSF pp,  Imaginisce pp,  Scenic Route stickers,  K n Co Stickers,  My Little Shoebox Chipboard Accents,  Ribbon from Jessy,  MM Felt pin,  Prima Pearl Bling and lots of 3d pop up dots.

End of semester drama presentation

Of late,  I have been such a BLUR BLOB with capital letters.  To celebrate the end of semester,  the drama teacher at school has set up a small presentation for the parents.  This is to showcase what the kids have achieved in term in the drama class.  We were not expecting a play but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the presentation.  AND of course mummy had to FORGET the CAMERA!!!! Aaaaarrrggghhh....  Check out the costumes!  Gosh - I rally want to kick myself in the butt for forgetting the camera.  Anyway - I took some pics on my phone but they didn't turn out nice and this was about the most decent shot I got.  Thought I blogged it and hopefully I will be embarrassed enough not to forget my camera next time.  Sigh...

Sketchabilities Sketch No 10

When I saw Jessy's take on this beautiful sketch by Sketchabilities,  I just knew I had to try this and see what I can come up with.  Words cannot describe how challenging this sketch was and how much fun I had doing this sketch.  This is the first time that I have used so many photos in a layout and I must say I love the effect of it. As a result,  I now realise that I have to think more when I take photos of the kids and how to edit them effectively.

Sean had a few friends coming last Saturday for a Nerf Gun Fight and I made them stop for 5 minutes to pose for me and they did.  Love the photos that I took.

Played with dry brushing acrylic paint onto the corrugated board.  The rest was pretty Add some crackle accents onto the stars and circles and the rest was basic stick and paste. Love the effects!

Materials used:
Corrugated Board,  SSF paper,  Bazzil cs,  Scenic Route Chipboard,  MM fabric saying,  Basic Grey Raw Star  and circle Chipboards,  Momoyo plain blue brads,  Jo Sonja paints,  Thickers foam alphas,  and of course 3d pop up dots.

Happy As Can Be

It seems like simple layouts are the order of the day.  The scrapping block is really demoralising and I hope I can "recover" from it soon.  Its just akin to losing confidence and I am not sure if you know what I mean.

Here is a layout for Momoyo just playing with their brads,  mists and my favourite SSF papers.

Materials used:
MM Kraft pp,  SSF pps,  Momoyo Brads,  Thickers Fabric Alphas,  MM sticker alphas,  SSF Chipboards and Glimmer Mists.  How can I forget - 3d pop up dots.  :)

New Year Resolution Layout

I am now trying to catch up with my blogging.  It has been a really busy 2 months and I just have about another more busy month before I can settle and start scrapping away.  I am definitely looking forward to that.  I am also motivated by a fellow scrapper - Leena from Singapore and I will endeavour to try and take better pictures.

Is it too late for New Year's resolutions? Well - like I said,  I am trying to catch up with my blogging and this year I have planned to embrace whatever that comes my way and move on.  I must admit I am not perfect and do get irritated quickly.  Having said that - I need to be provoked before I lose my temper.  I know I shouldn't lose my cool but when I am tired,  I simply just can't take nonsense.  However,  those who know me will understand that its just me venting and thereafter I am ok.  I am not expecting people tolerate the behaviour but that is just me.  Take it or leave it.  Enough said.

I hereby leave you with another FFC CHA layout which I made.  I love how I have used pleats on the beautiful FFC Peranakan papers.  I folded a fan and added a tassel.  For bordering,  I used scallop punch on the paper and there after folded the paper to create dimension.

Materials used:
FFC Peranakan pps,  Technique Tuesday Chipboard Bracket,  Heidi Swapp flower,  Tassel from local haberdashery,  Prima Bling Swirl and Alphas,  K n Co trim sticker,  Pearls stickers,  DMC Embroidery thread and 3d pop up dots.

You and I 4ever

This is another layout that made it to CHA at with Far Flung Craft.  Love the versatility of this Peranakan line and how the line can change into modern themes and not just stuck in Orientals ways.  I scrapped this layout very simply and chose a doiley to soften the whole wedding theme.

Credits:  Thanks to Hoei Lee for the use of her photos.

Materials used:
FFC pps,  Bazzill cs,  K n Co  Stickers,  LAce Trim from local haberdashery,  Prima Flower,  DMC Embroidery thread,  Doiley,  Thickers Vinyl Alphas and for once in my life,  no pop up dots.  Hee hee...

Scrap-it-Lah February 2010 Challenge

Gosh,  I have totally forgotten to blog about the Scrap-it-lah Feb challenge.  I can be quite the blur blob when I am busy.  This month,  yours truly came up with the challenge to mix the Oriental and Valentines' theme together.  Why such a funny challenge?  This year,  the Chinese New Year and Valentines Day falls on the same day Feb 14th.  Hence, I thought it would be challenging to come up with a challenge that would incorporate this 2 occasions.

Here is my simple take:

Most of the DTs chose to scrap on their spouses,  I have decided to concentrate on my family.  To me,  there is nothing more important than my family and I would like to stress to my kids that they should always prioritise our little family unit.  I have also added a little chinese saying:

"With your hand I hold,  Together we will grow old."

I thought it was quite apt for this photo of ours.

Materials used:
DCWV Aisan pps,  K n Co sticker lanterns,  Lil Davis Chipboard letters,  Maya Road Ruffled Ribbon,  Prima pearls,  Jenny Bowlin Journalling Diecut,  Thickers fabric alphas,  Momoyo Brads and  Kaiser wooden heart.

FFC Layout - Cherish, Love, Xoxo

This layout made it to CHA and I am glad.  Of late,  I have not been scrapping due to the kids' hectic schedule and I simply can't scrap layouts and the when I do - the layouts turn out quite horrible.  Sigh...  I must get out of this rut soon. I better stop moaning about it as this is not helping.

Here is a simple layout using the Chinese New Year pps from FFC.  I love the vibrant colours on these pps and I finally took out my Adirondack Demin colour wash to create a misted background to complement the "Tian Kong" or Sky (the blue clouds) paper.

I would like to thank Hoei Lee for the use of her photos for this lo.

Materials used:

FFC Papers,  Bazzill cs,  Heidi Swapp Bling sayings,  Basic Grey Chipboards,  Adirondack Denim Colour Wash and loads of 3d pop up dots.

Track n Field Day

We fought about this event at school.  She wanted to attend a birthday party and I was determined that she doesn't ditch a school event for a party. Gosh,  it really doesn't get any easier.  I know she is turning into a teenager and it seems that her friends are her priority.  Sigh...

How cool is having a track and field event under the lights?  She is so lucky to have a school that has such great facilities and not utilise them?  Well,  not on my watch.

The 100m which she participated.

Whizzing at the 200m  for a bronze medal.
Smiling with her third place medal.

Hamming it up with her gold.

I won of course as I put my foot down but I am glad I did.  She had a great time at the event.  She participated in the 100m and 200 m.  She did not in anything for the 100m  but came in third for the 200m.   For the 4 x 100 relays,  her team won the gold.  All in all - I am glad and the smile on her face says it all.
